FASTag New Rules : No bank will be allowed to deactivate or disconnect a customer’s FASTag account or connection without informing the customer in advance. If a user faces any difficulty in uploading documents, the concerned bank will contact the customer and assist in completing the “Know Your Vehicle” (KYV) process before taking any action to disconnect the service.
Customers can now also file complaints or ask questions related to KYV issues with their issuing bank by calling the National Highway Helpline number 1033. To enhance convenience and improve the overall customer experience, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has simplified the KYV process for FASTag users. Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL) issued the revised guidelines on Thursday. According to these new rules, FASTag services will not be deactivated for vehicles that are temporarily non-compliant. Furthermore, customers will now be given adequate time to complete the KYV process, and banks will send reminder messages via SMS to prompt them to finish it.
No need to upload side-view photos
Under the new rules, uploading side-view photos of cars, jeeps, or vans is no longer required. Now, only the front photo showing the number plate and FASTag sticker needs to be uploaded. Additionally, upon entering the vehicle number, chassis number, or mobile number, the vehicle’s RC details will be automatically fetched. If multiple vehicles are registered under the same mobile number, the customer can conveniently select the vehicle for which they wish to complete the KYV process.
No need to replace FASTag frequently
Customers will no longer need to replace their FASTags repeatedly. The issued FASTag will remain valid as long as it is not damaged, loose, or reported for misuse, ensuring uninterrupted service continuity.
