Delhi Metro : New metro line to be extended in Delhi NCR, DPR Ready, Travel to be Easier.

Delhi Metro  : To strengthen the metro network in Delhi-NCR, the government is working on several new projects. New metro lines are being constructed, and existing stations are being upgraded with modern facilities. Now, there’s another piece of good news for Delhi-NCR residents — a new metro line will soon be developed, making travel easier for millions of passengers. Let’s take a detailed look below:

Strengthening Delhi-NCR Metro Network

To enhance the metro network in Delhi-NCR, Indian Railways is working on multiple new projects. A new metro line will now be built as part of the network expansion. The preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this new line has already begun. Once completed, this new metro line will significantly improve connectivity across the region.

Where the New Metro Line Will Be Built

People living in Palwal district, adjacent to Faridabad, will soon find Delhi much closer. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the metro line from Ballabhgarh to Palwal has been completed. This new line will connect Faridabad to Delhi via metro. According to recent reports, the construction of the new Delhi-NCR metro line is set to begin soon. This information was shared by Haryana’s Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam during a press conference held at the Magpie Tourist Complex.

Cities That Will Benefit from Better Connectivity

Currently, the metro runs from Badarpur Border to Ballabhgarh. Minister Gaurav Gautam shared that the DPR does not yet specify the number of metro stations to be built between Ballabhgarh and Palwal, as the file is still under review by the concerned authorities. Once the metro reaches Palwal, residents will have better connectivity not just with Delhi and Faridabad, but also with Noida and Ghaziabad.

At present, Palwal’s public transport options are limited to passenger trains and Haryana Roadways buses. The arrival of the metro will bring major improvements in daily commuting for the local population.

Benefits of the New Metro Line

The new metro line will greatly benefit students studying at Delhi University, as well as employees commuting daily from Faridabad, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Greater Noida. It will make travel more convenient for regular passengers and help reduce road traffic congestion.

According to reports, nearly 3,000–4,000 students from Palwal travel daily to Delhi University and other higher education institutions, while around 8,000–9,000 people work in Delhi and nearby districts. Additionally, thousands of traders visit Delhi for business activities. The metro will bring major relief to all these commuters and improve connectivity between Palwal and other cities.

HMRTC Managing Director Chandrashekhar Khare stated that the geographical study of the route is in its final phase. The study aims to determine passenger capacity and finalize the exact alignment of the route. Work on the project is expected to start soon.

Gurugram Metro Plan Awaits Budget Approval

Plans to start a metro service between Faridabad and Gurugram have been under development for several years. The DPR has been completed, and all necessary government approvals have been obtained. However, the project is still awaiting budget allocation. Once the metro service starts between Faridabad and Gurugram, the connectivity between the two cities will improve significantly.

Faridabad Metro — Started in 2015

Faridabad received its first metro service in 2015 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the line. Initially, the metro operated between Faridabad and ITO. About nine months later, the route was extended to Kashmere Gate. Since then, metro connectivity has made daily commuting much easier for the residents of Faridabad.
