Aadhaar Card New Rules : A major update has been announced for Aadhaar card holders. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has released a new and updated fee structure and simplified several Aadhaar-related processes. Here’s everything you need to know:
Updated Fee Structure (Effective November 2025)
- For updating name, address, or mobile number : ₹75
- For updating fingerprint, iris scan, or photo : ₹125
- For biometric updates of children aged 5–7 years and 15–17 years : Free
- Online document update : Free until June 14, 2026, after which ₹75 will be charged at service centers.
- Aadhaar reprint (printed copy) : ₹40
-
Home enrolment service : ₹700 for the first person, and ₹350 for each additional person at the same address.
Change 1: Aadhaar Information Update Now Available Online
Earlier, any correction or update in Aadhaar details required visiting a service center.
Now, the entire process can be completed online from the comfort of your home.
Your updated information — such as name, address, date of birth, or mobile number — will be auto-verified using official government documents like PAN Card, Passport, Driving License, or Ration Card.
This makes the entire process faster, easier, and more secure.
Change 2: Aadhaar–PAN Linking Made Mandatory
Every PAN cardholder must link their PAN with Aadhaar by December 31, 2025.
If you fail to do so, your PAN card will become inactive from January 1, 2026, and you will not be able to use it for any financial or tax-related activities.
Even for new PAN applications, Aadhaar verification will now be mandatory.
Change 3: Simplified KYC Process
The government has made the Know Your Customer (KYC) process much easier for banks and financial institutions.
Now, you can complete KYC using any of the following methods:
- Aadhaar OTP verification
- Video KYC
-
Face-to-face (in-person) verification
The entire process will now be paperless, faster, and more convenient.
Why Are These Changes Important?
These new rules aim to make Aadhaar-related services simpler, faster, and more secure.
With the ability to update Aadhaar details online, citizens will save time and effort.
At the same time, stronger verification measures will enhance data security.
However, the Aadhaar–PAN linking deadline is extremely important — failure to comply may lead to problems in banking, tax filing, and other financial transactions.
So, make sure to link your Aadhaar and PAN before the deadline and keep your documents ready for online verification.
According to UIDAI, these changes are designed to increase both convenience and safety for all citizens.
